Mission Statement

The mission of the American Foundation for Animal Rescue Inc., a nonprofit IRS 501C (3) charitable organization since 1997, is to provide direct and indirect community support and protection for homeless and abandoned animals through animal welfare advocacy, advocating for sensible public policies, promoting family and public education, and developing community-based programs including supporting or maintaining animal shelter and sanctuary facilities, veterinary care and spay/neuter programs and legislative advocacy.

Program 1

Our Queens Community Animal Shelter is a member of the Mayor's Alliance for New York City Animals and rescues, treats both medically and behaviorally, and re-homes hundreds of cats and dogs each year after being spayed or neutered. Animals come to us as strays, surrenders, and from the NYC Animal Care and Control facilities. Our Animal Behavior Center of New York serves as a low cost community animal behavior center and treatment clinic and a teaching facility for professional animal behavior specialists.

"AFAR and I founded and operated a community-based animal shelter and behavior clinic for some years in NYC before relocating to Florida where I founded the American College of Applied Science that specializes in graduate, undergraduate and professional development programs in animal science, animal behavior and animal shelter administration."
