What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
EAGLSx Summit
Adolescent girls in East Africa face many barriers to staying in school, including poverty, climate change, gender inequality, sexual violence, teen-pregnancy, and child marriage, making them less likely to finish their schooling. There are limited supports to girls that help them navigate the barriers and stay in school.
EAGLSx is a week-long program implemented in collaboration with partners that strengthens girls’ leadership and womens’ mentorship abilities to elevate girls as leaders at the center of efforts to keep girls in school and to advocate against barriers to their education. The program develops mentorship skills among African women teachers; builds leadership skills such as self-confidence, public speaking, collaboration and creativity, and builds knowledge of girls' rights and advocacy tactics among adolescent girls; and provides a platform for girls and mentors to determine a critical topic they want to address through creative advocacy efforts in their community.
Creative Environmental Leadership Program
Environmental movements need leaders that can collaborate, facilitate challenging conversations, build consensus, develop inclusive solutions, and shift behaviors. But grassroots leaders do not always have the access to transformational leadership learning and exchange opportunities that build on and complement their vast experience and knowledge.
The Creative Environmental Leadership Program bridges that gap by developing the capacity of leaders to build inclusive and collaborative organizations that can effectively accompany stakeholders in developing and enacting solutions to the challenges they face. Through training and coaching, partners learn to assess complex issues, develop inclusive solutions, and leverage creative advocacy strategies that incorporate arts to shift behaviors for a more sustainable planet.
Sauti Ya Dada (the Girl's Voice)
Sauti ya Dada is a two-year program that creates and strengthens systems of support, learning, leadership, and advocacy both in and out of school to help marginalized girls in East Africa complete their secondary school education. The program provides training and coaching, a platform for regional peer exchange through the annual East Africa Leadership Summit, and opportunities to put their learning into practice through Creative Advocacy Practicums that allow the girls to dismantle barriers to girls’ education in their community by utilizing arts to advocate for change
