What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
School Programs
Inocenti-RCR School programs operate in Bucharest, Ilfov, Cluj, Mintiu Gherlii, Reteag & Bistrita serving at-risk children with daily of the tutoring, enrichment, mentoring and social supports needed to help children succeed in school - and stay in school.
Child Life Programs
Inocenti-RCR programs in hospitals provide abandoned and hospitalized children with daily therapy and activities to prevent trauma and keep children developing normally despite long-term institutionalization. Programs are currently operating in Bucharest, Cluj and Bistrita-Nasaud County.
Oimpiada Inocentilor
A community-wide day of special activities, games, music for more than 400 children with developmental delays in Bistrita County. More than 200 volunteers give their time and energy and an entire community sees the special gifts and talents of children who are often seen for just their handicaps. NOTE: THIS PROGRAM HAS SWITCHED TO ONLINE DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS.
Early Intervention
A team of professionals delivers physical, speech and psychological therapy to young children with disabilities (ages 0-7) in order to remediate developmental delays. Inocenti works with families and schools to continue interventions and maximize the child's development.
Me & My Family Together
A team of Professionals work with developmentally delayed children in foster homes and an orphanage to prevent developmental delays and enhance life skills.
Mental Health for School-Aged Children
RCR-Inocenti's teams of Psychologists and Social Workers have created programs covering the most common forms of mental illness to increase awareness, access to help and reduce stigma. During Covid, these programs shifted to hybrid in-person and online, and expanded into several more schools and cities. We've also produced a series of brief brochures for use by school counselors. Thousands of copies of these brochures have been downloaded by school counselors throughout Romania, creating a new network of support for those on the front lines of pediatric mental illness.
Support for Ukrainian Refugee Children and Families
In February, 2022, thousands of Ukrainian families fled into Romania as Russia invaded their country. Most moved on through Romania to other countries, but many have stayed in Romania, in order to be closer to loved ones back home. When the refugee crisis began, our Professional Staff, already very experienced in working with children and families in need, were called upon to help our new friends in emergency shelters, community centers and hotels. Today, RCR-Inocenti is working with hundreds of Ukrainian children and families living in Cluj-Napoca, Bucharest and Bistrita.
