What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
ICO has also established a charitable endowment to provide a permanent source of funding to “bridge the gap” for the working class poor — providing support, guidance and assistance to our neighbors in Dare and Currituck Counties who are faced with a temporary emergency crisis and for ICO Cancer Support — helping to offset travel, medical and basic living expenses for those suffering with cancer. This Endowment Fund will provide ongoing and perpetual support for any and all of the organization’s program, community outreach, cancer outreach, and operating, and/or capital needs.
Objective #1 Funding the Programs
• Individuals/Business Donations

• Collaborate with other local non-profits and Hands of Hope, American Cancer Group, to help Develop an expanded list of volunteers who would take individuals to appointments at medical facilities in Greenville; UNC Chapel Hill; Duke; and medical facilities in Virginia (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Newport News, and local etc.) There are a number of individuals who do not have transportation for these distant medical facilities and look to ICO to provide transportation.
• Continue to collaborate with other local non-profits for funding for clients.
• ICO has partnered with Dare Hospice for Grief Group Counseling for individuals and families and we will be working again on this partnership in 2021
• ICO has developed a Cancer Resource Manual for Dare and Currituck Counties and will continue to keep it updated for 2021
• Online application and cancer resources online.
Objective #3 Awareness to the Community:
• Marketing Campaign, Brochure, Website, TV Ad for Cancer Outreach.
• Provide information on cancer and medical assistance programs to Dare and Currituck Counties residents to inform everyone of ICO programs regarding cancer and other medical issues.
• Meetings with counties social services, health departments and community care clinics to provide community awareness of the ICO Cancer and other medical assistance programs available.
