What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Top Soccer
The goal of TOPSoccer is to enrich the lives of young players with disabilities through the game of soccer, and to provide a safe environment for players to participate based on ability, not age. This unique community based outreach program is designed to meet the needs of children aged 4 and older with physical and/or mental disabilities. It is geared toward player development, rather than competition.
California Regional League
CRL mission is to provide the highest standard of competitive play for youth teams that are members of US Youth Soccer Region IV (Cal North and Cal South) and to assure the continued growth and development of elite level players
Cal Notrh-Competitive Soccer League
CCSL is open to Cal North affiliated competitive level soccer teams. CCSL goal is to provide an appropriate playing environment for competitive level Cal North teams of all skill levels.
Olympic Development Program
ODP is a national process for identifying and developing the best youth soccer players. Each state ODP is administered at the State level by ODP Technical Director and Cal North State Office.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Cal North offers appropriate soccer opportunities for all youth in our area. Based on the very heterogeneous nature of our membership, this is a steep goal.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Cal North's first strategy is current and potential customer outreach. As previously stated, we have a wide spectrum of members with a wide spectrum of needs. We have made a very dedicated effort in the last two years to connect with our membeship base to ascertain the needs, wants, and wishes of our clients. Some areas require opportunities for physically challenged children, while some areas require opportunities for top level competitive players and teams. These are just two examples..there are many more.
Cal North's second strategy is to take the compex nature of youth soccer and make it easier to manage from the local level. Insurance, registration, field scheduling, and equipment are all pieces of the youth soccer puzzle that can be very confusing. Board and staff have heard these concerns as they relate to complexity and made efforts to simplify processes and/or add assistance and education where needed.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Cal North's board of directors continues to work towards a strategic formula, moving past the operational model. Staff is of complete understanding with regards to the importance of our customers and the imperative demands of a customer service satisfaction model. Cal North's Executive Director is confident that the organization will continue to win members through its service model and he is proud to be part of this effort.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Cal North currently considers all goals and expectations as a 'work in progress'. Outreach for competitive and special needs players is improving. Our coaching education courses continue to increase, but we need to improve in state wide outreach. Finally, our reach to the ethnic community is not where we would like to be, the language and trust barriers are formidable.
