BEAR RIVER LAND CONSERVANCY
Conserving Critical Lands in Cache, Rich, and Box Elder Counties
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Working lands have been the backbone of our communities for over 100 years and are a critical component of the landscape that benefits people and wildlife. Environmental, economic and social benefits of working lands in the Bear River Watershed are threatened by unprecedented growth and emerging impacts of climate change. We partner with organizations to preserve working lands and their benefits through a combination of conservation easements and management activities.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our mission is to preserve the benefits of land and water in Northern Utah and the Bear River Watershed for present and future generations. We do this by partnering with communities and landowners to permanently sustain the heritage of working lands and to protect natural areas.

Conservation easements, fee-title property purchase, and conservation project management. BRLC works with local, state, and federal partners to protect private lands of critical importance for wildlife, working agriculture, and open space.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Currently, Bear River Land Conservancy is a volunteer led non-profit with 1.5 full time employee's.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
455 acres of riparian floodplain and wetlands protected and held under conservation easement; 30 acres of farmland protecting Ute ladies'-tresses acquired in fee title; 3 acres and 1,130 feet of shoreline along Bear Lake protected and held under perpetual conservation easement; 25 acres of farmland protecting agriculture and open space protected and held under perpetual conservation easement; 4,081 acres of wetland/agricultural lands protected through perpetual conservation easement.
