What we aim to solve
The mission of the non-profit World War II Foundation is to produce educational films and create initiatives recognizing the bravery and enormous contributions made by the veterans and survivors of World War II so that future generations appreciate the determination and sacrifices that enabled perpetuation of our basic freedoms.
Our mission is fulfilled through the following pursuits:
Education
We enlighten populations of students, citizens, specialized audiences with videos, PBS specials, and through repositories such as libraries, schools and museums. In addition, the commissioning of monuments honoring individual or collective triumphs during WWII will also be emphasized.
Inspiration
We provide opportunities for reflection on leadership and the attributes which are associated with men and women in military environments.
Honor
We want to recognize those who have served in exceptional circumstances and sacrificed for their country during World War II.
Preservation

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The World War II Foundation is committed to educating future generations about the enormous sacrifices and achievements of sixteen million Americans who served in World War II.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
1. Production of documentary films covering World War II experiences and their donation to American Public Television stations (PBS) around the world
2. Distribution of documentary films through educational channels that will boost viewership, including television, schools and libraries
3. Educational seminars with classrooms to encourage interaction of students with history
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
World War II Founder Tim Gray combines his filmmaking skills, Jim Karpeichik's photography and videography skills and celebrity narration skills to produce award-winning documentaries. His connections with American Public Television allow for streamlined distribution of the films. It is Tim's expertise in documenting the history and working with veterans that is in demand by teachers to help the student and engage with history. He connects with classrooms, often while in the field, to show them the importance of past, current and future work of the Foundation.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
The aggressive pace of work and production schedule leave fundraising efforts in need of additional success. The Foundation's desire to document World War history before participants are gone means that fundraising is often playing catchup with opportunities to tell these important stories.
