Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Random Lake Area Interfaith Food Pantry strives to assure that no family goes without basic food support in its service area, doing so in an organizationally sustainable manner.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Random Lake Area Interfaith Food Pantry relies on local volunteers; financial assistance from local individuals, businesses, organizations, congregations and schools; and on regional sources of support including foundations to provide the resources necessary to meet our goal.
With these resources in hand, we further work to develop local sources of supply for both perishable and non-perishable food, and to develop a distribution network that extends beyond the pantry and includes providing perishable items to the community through third parties.
Having a broad net, based locally but extending further, allows for redundancy in supply and financial resources that help assure that needs can be met while reducing the likelihood of disruptions caused by external factors.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Random Lake Area Interfaith Food Pantry maintains active contact with a variety of local institutions, particularly faith-based institutions, that provide the volunteers, cash and food that allow the pantry to operate effectively. In addition to institutional connections, the pantry maintains a network of support in the area's agricultural community, which provides fresh produce, eggs and meat, allowing the pantry to offer a wider range of healthy food options than would otherwise be possible.
At the same time, the pantry has successfully developed a broad-based community of donors committed to support for the pantry as a well-run and tightly focused organization meeting an identifiable need.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In terms of service to individuals and families, the Random Lake Area Interfaith Food Pantry is confident that eligible families are aware of available service. We strive to assure that there are no barriers to participation, and that participation is actively encouraged.
The pantry remains in a strong position to serve, having adopted full-choice standards for client visits and working to maintain sufficient cash reserves so that cash flow needs do not impact service, generally or seasonally.
