What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Children's Vision Screening
Our Children's Vision Screening program serves children in preschools, day care centers, Head Start Centers, public and private schools. Our new EZ as 1 2 3 program highlights screening with our new SPOT computerized photo screening cameras to provide screening for 1-3-year-olds in licensed day care facilities in Oklahoma. We are also able to provide reliable vision screening with these cameras to special needs and non-English speaking students in public and private schools through our Screen 2 C program. During the school year, our 18 certified screeners will visit over 1,300 locations and screen over 350,000 children referring 45,000 with possible vision problems to their local eye doctor for a comprehensive eye exam and treatment if needed. Since 80% of what children learn is presented to them visually and 85% of children never receive an eye exam, our screening is crucial to making sure that every child in Oklahoma has their best chance for success in school. Since 70% of juvenile delinquents have an undiagnosed vision problem screening is also important for the safety of our children and our communities. We also provide vouchers for free exams and glasses for low-income families and undocumented children.
