What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The First Tee of Greater Houston; PGA TOUR golf tournament; Junior Golf; restoration of Gus Wortham Park Golf Course
The Shell Houston Open is the driving force behind HGA's community service programs. In 2015, the tournament raised $2,316,623 in support of 250 charitable organizations. Also impressive is The First Tee educational program reached over 300,000 school children in 461 schools across Greater Houston and taught nine core character values through the game of golf; Houston's chapter is the largest in the nation out of 170. On a smaller but equally important scale, the HGA's Junior Golf program offers moderately priced competitive opportunities for more than 500 youngsters at more than 50 courses and clubs. The largest capital campaign undertaken by HGA in its 70-year history is restoration of Gus Wortham Park Golf Course and construction of a community center/clubhouse and education facility that will serve the families of the historic, Hispanic, East End of Houston.
