Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Breeding and illegal importation are detrimental factors for the welfare of exotic birds. Overpopulation is a serious issue for these animals, who are offered very little protection under law; who outlive their caregivers and suffer negative effects of captivity, making them even more susceptible to neglect and abuse than dogs and cats. One of our many goals is to advance avian welfare and protection laws.

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Wings of Love Parrot Rescue Center of the Bluegrass, Inc. exists to improve the lives of companion parrots, to encourage adoption and discourage breeding, to educate the community on the proper care of avians, and to advocate for cage-free lives for all birds. Our goal is to change people's minds about caging birds as pets and allowing them to live free in their natural habitat.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Wings of Love Parrot Rescue Center strives to educate with a goal of showing people that parrots do not make good pets; that they are wild animals who only thrive in their native habitat, and develop serious issues due to being held in captivity.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Wings of Love utilizes materials and information provided by the Avian Welfare Coalition, GFAS, and other avian welfare organizations to present information publicly in support of ending the bird trade and the caging of parrots.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Thus far, we are just getting started, but our hope is to join together with like-minded organizations to promote cage-free lives for all birds, and rally together to change people's minds about supporting the bird trade.
