Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
MSCPVA provides for the needs of our membership by assisting or members the services they need to lead active, inclusive lives, in our community. Most of our members serve as mentors to the greater disabled community.
We hope that our programs, events and activities reach and enrich the lives of the entire community.
We advocate for accessibility needs in the community. We serve as a voice to local, state and federal government on issues relating to veterans affairs, social integration and the ongoing needs of our paralyzed and disabled members.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Through our Board of Directors, working with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the United Veterans Committee of Colorado, and local, state and federal government; we endeavor to ensure that those with disability are included in our society.
We do this by:
1. Conducting routine meetings with community leaders and veterans groups to address pertinent issues in the community (i.e., Fitzsimons Hospital Project).
2. Program development and strategic planning.
3. Milestones and markers established to keep our goals on track.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
1. We have specialized knowledge and experience in this field.
2. We have publications that support the medical awareness and understanding of the disabling conditions we serve.
3. We have established the conduit of support from disabled community.
4. We have membership participation and a BOD that commits to the financial investment needed to continue our work.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
1. Our mission is to sustain our programs and continuously serve the ever expanding needs of our membership.
the proof of our accomplishments are shown through the longevity of the organization. If we were not accomplishing our mission and needs of those we serve, we would have closed years ago.
Our next goal for FY19, 20 and beyond is to get our members out and active more often to realize what they are capable of. The easiest way to do this is in the form of our $500/event Recreational therapy Grants. If we can get 200 members to utilize even just one of their two $500/year recreational therapy grants, we will know that they are in the process of living a more fulfilled life. Eventually we want all 500+ members to be utilizing their full $1000/year and eventually raise that number to $2000/year or $3000/year or even more.
