Mission Statement

The mission of Desert Marigold School is educate children so that each can reach their full potential, becoming adults who will have a sound knowledge of the past, a true perception of the present and have the will and vision to create the future.

Desert Marigold School nurtures and challenges students, within the developmentally appropriate framework of Waldorf Education, to develop those capacities needed to adapt and navigate the complex social and economic realities of life in the modern global world. By fostering self-reflection and social understanding, responsibility and accountability, economic and environmental literacy, self-discipline and initiative taking, DMS enables the students to become individuals who are courageous, creative, resilient, self-directed innovators with the social awareness, skills, commitment, and practical judgment to successfully collaborate with others to make a contribution to the “whole.”

Further, the school community will organize itself to serve as an example of what we would hope and profess to bring into being within the children: An inclusive “learning community” creatively exploring innovative approaches and forms, courageously collaborating, engaged with the issues of the times, reverent and grateful stewards of this unique place, with the candor and practical judgment to learn along the way, and the commitment, resilience and will to be the instrument of the educational, political and social change that can lead to social renewal.
