In May 2010, flooding in the Nashville area killed 30 people and caused an estimated $2 billion in damage. The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee turned to GuideStar and KIMBIA to create a custom online fundraising campaign for flood relief. A special flood relief widget was quickly developed to process donations from any Web site.
The campaign raised more than $1 million. Almost half—46 percent—of the donations came via the flood-relief widget placed on third-party Web sites. Read the case study
