Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Education

We work every day with children and adults to foster environmental literacy so that they can become more informed and effective stewards of Maine’s wildlife and habitat.

In addition to our standard adult programs — including bird walks, trips, speakers, and other classes designed to help adults further their environmental education — we regularly offer classes and programs for children and families, host field trips, visit classrooms, and provide programs and resources for educators.

Population(s) Served

Habitat connectivity is a primary theme in much of our conservation work, made more critical by wildlife’s need to move freely in response to climate change. We collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders statewide on these key issues: stream barrier surveys, 'stream-smart' road crossings, annual loon count, endangered piping plover and least term protection project, brook trout pond surveys, northern forest management plan, and citizen science data collection.

Population(s) Served

Maine Audubon is a recognized leader in conservation advocacy across the state and regionally, widely respected for providing solid science based information and a balanced perspective to inform decision makers and the public about critical conservation issues.
