Mission Statement: The Farnsworth Art Museum celebrates Maine's role in American art. Adopted by the Trustees of the Farnsworth Art Mluseum, April 2006. To accomplish its mission, the museum provides an extensive offering of collection, exhibition, education and retail services to the general public.

Exhibition Programs

The Farnsworth presents up to a dozen exhibitions annually, drawn largely from its collection of 18th- through 20th-century American art objects related to Maine. Borrowed works are also displayed to present context for the collection. The museum also travels its exhibitions to other venues.
