Down East Singers

During this third year limited by the challenges of Covid, we produced two highly successful concerts. We experimented with a variety of modalities and ultimately were able to combine virtual rehearsals, on-line aids, and indoor gatherings to produce two full concerts. Fall semester produced two lively performances of our holiday celebration of "Noel Francais", featuring French-Canadian carols, European French holiday music, and collaboration with T-Acadie, performing tranditional French Canadian pieces. Our winter semester culminated in a indoor performance of the Easter portion of Handel's Messiah, complete with orchestra and sold-out audience, with both rehearsals and performance held at Watts Hall in Thomaston. Other opportunities included a holiday Messiah Sing for the community. Of note this year was the purchase of new performance risers.
