Environmental Outdoor Education Program
Ventura Land Trust staff leads free environmental education field trips for local students. Since 2004, we have introduced thousands of youth to the natural beauty of the Ventura River estuary and have educated them about the importance of protecting this valuable environmental asset. By concentrating on watershed science and emphasizing hands-on learning in a beautiful outdoor setting, our goal is to educate the next generation of open space stewards and inspire them protect local fragile ecosystems.
Ventura Land Trust Communication Program
Ventura Land Trust communicates with our members and supporters on a regular basis. Using our printed Outlook newsletter, monthly eblast newsletters, social media outreach (Facebook and Instagram) and frequent distribution or press releases to local media, we keep the public informed about our work and projects and engage the community's the support of our work
Ventura River Restoration Program
The Ventura Land Trust is committed to sustainable stewardship of the lands it owns in perpetuity. We balance community access and environmental protection to best serve our members and the local community. To achieve our goals we engage in invasive species removal, river/estuary cleanups, trail building and maintenance, and planting of native plants and trees.
Ventura County Open Natural Space Management
The Ventura Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit land trust serving Ventura and surrounding area. Since 2003 Ventura Land Trust manages over 2,200 acres of permanently protected open space including along the Ventura River, canyon hillsides and more. In addition, Ventura Land Trust works to balance conservation and recreation providing publicly accessible nature preserve in Ventura including the Harmon Canyon Preserve property. Our goal is to purchase open space and then open the land to the public for recreational and conservation activities.
