What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Preseason Baseball

Beginning in January, the kids begin practice and training for coaches and children ages 5-14. During the winter the kids practice at local YMCAs and Nashville RBI provides all of the equipment necessary for play.

Population(s) Served

Children ages 6-14 participate in competitive and non-competitive play beginning in April and lasting until August. All of the tools necessary for the kids to play the game are provided by Nashville RBI including equipment and umpires. In addition, Nashville RBI provides each participant with a meal after the game. In 2008 the program includes more than 13,000 children. All games are played at Metro Parks or Boys & Girls Club facilities.

Population(s) Served

Baseball coaches at any level are invited to participate in a clinic each January sponsored by Nashville RBI with the assistance of Major League coaches and players who cover hitting, fielding and pitching. In 2005, the clinic boasted the participation of Steve Liddle, Bench Coach of the Minnesota Twins, R.A. Dickey pitcher for the Texas Rangers and Chuck Merriwether, MLB Umpire.

Population(s) Served

Each year the Nashville RBI program sponsors 10 to 14 children in an all expense paid trip to Disney World. The kids must be participants in the RBI program and receive Straight "A's" on their reports cards for the entire year.
