Mission

The Brookline Center for Community Mental Health provides outstanding, affordable mental health care and community-based social services that help individuals and families lead healthier, safer, and fuller lives while building the strongest, healthiest community possible. We open our doors to every Brookline resident, regardless of ability to pay or severity of condition. With our team of nearly 100 clinicians, staff in every Brookline public school, and partnerships with healthcare providers and public agencies, The Brookline Center plays an essential public health role for Brookline and neighboring communities.

Individual counseling

Our core service is one-on-one, personalized counseling and psychotherapy for children (ages 3+) and adults of every age. This care may include medication, diagnostic evaluation, or psychological or neuropsychological testing.

Our extensive group therapy program offers support for a wide range of mental health and personal challenges. Our experienced clinicians facilitate dozens of groups for kids, teens, and adults, each with its own focus.

Project GROW focuses on the particular challenges girls face during the middle school years, such as navigating shifting friendships and creating a positive self image in the face of social pressures. This group mentoring program cultivates important coping skills while giving girls a space to find and express their own voices.

BRYT provides short-term, transitional support for students returning to classes after extended mental heath-related absences.

A program of the Brookline Community Foundation in partnership with The Brookline Center, the Brookline Safety Net helps residents of Brookline and neighboring communities meet basic needs like food, housing, utilities, and transportation. The Safety Net offers confidential, individualized, and integrated support that prevents crises from worsening, improves quality of life, and helps people create a pathway toward greater stability and self-sufficiency.

If you are facing a conflict, Metropolitan Mediation Services (MetroMediation, for short) can help you find a positive, personal solution through conversations that let you air your concerns, hear others out, and keep intact the relationships you care about. If you want to serve your community, MetroMediation offers renowned training that enables community volunteers to do this extremely satisfying work.

Healthy Lives pairs case managers with nurse practitioners to integrate services, manage disease, and introduce wellness activities, all designed to fit each patient’s specific conditions and abilities. The program partners with local hospitals and community health centers; we work with 34 agencies to provide the ideal mix of services, as needed.
