Mission

Pine Manor College prepares women for inclusive leadership and social responsibility in their workplaces, families and communities. We pursue this goal through: integration of an outcomes-based curriculum and co-curriculum demonstrated by portfolio presentations; active, collaborative, applied liberal arts learning; and community partnerships--in an environment that celebrates diversity and respects the common good.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

At Pine Manor College (PMC), faculty and staff provide an active, collaborative learning environment where students become part of a community of people who value learning, creativity, personal fulfillment, and each other. A low 1:10 faculty-to student ratio, as well as a team approach to guidance and academic support, provide individualized attention and opportunities for independent work. Learning Portfolio Pine Manor overlays a set of learning outcomes on the traditional liberal arts curriculum. These outcomes include critical thinking skills, inclusive leadership, social responsibility, and multi-cultural perspective and are infused into both classes and co-curricular activities. The outcomes assist students in connecting academic coursework to real world skills. Students demonstrate proficiency in the learning outcomes through the development and presentation of a portfolio of work from both classes and other activities. Portfolios are presented to faculty, staff and peers in both the sophomore and senior year. Internships Recognizing the fundamental link between a liberal arts education and the world beyond campus, Pine Manor College integrates the experience of internships into the curriculum and requires them for graduation. Internship sites include major Boston corporations, hospitals, museums, laboratories, media organizations and social service programs. Nearly 70% of all itnerns from Pine Manor are offered permanent positions after graduation
