Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

KPCS

KPCS follows the five pillars of success put forth by the KIPP model. Our students spend approximately 65% more time in school then their peers, including certain Saturdays and three weeks during the summer. KPCS students not only get extra time in math and reading, but the extra-curricular activities that make education well-rounded, such as the arts. Each year, students are given the opportunity to earn a place at field lessons where their academic pursuits are brought to life in real world settings.

Population(s) Served

Counselors for the KIPP Through College program begin working with students enrolled in KIPP Philadelphia middle schools during their 7th grade year. Through classes and workshops, students and families are introduced to the high school choices available to them and supported in choosing a high school that will best prepare the student for success in college. Once students have promoted from a KIPP middle school at the end of 8th grade, earning KIPP alumni status, the KIPP Through College High School Transition counselor continues to work with the alumni throughout their 9th grade year.

Services that are provided to support our KIPP Philadelphia alumni in high school include:

• Regular contact from a KTC counselor
• Visits by KTC staff to the alumni’s placement high school
• Tutoring and homework assistance
• Assistance in finding summer programs and other extracurricular activities
• Transfer support and counseling
