What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

SJCC provides case assistance, information and referral, computerized benefits assessments, entitlement counseling, advocacy, crisis intervention, emergency assistance, and food distributions. These services are available to the entire community, but the client base includes a large number of seniors and immigrants. SJCC also provides job readiness training, vocational counseling, job placement, vocational training, ESL, citizenship preparation classes, business counseling and business outreach programs, citizenship assistance, and many other services.
In the last fiscal year, SJCC provided over 30,000 units of service in the above areas.

Case Management - Facilitate access for indigent elderly, Holocaust survivors and Russian refugees to desperately needed benefits and services.
Methodology
I. Case Management Services
Problem: Much of the elderly Russian refugee and Holocaust survivor population, are indigent, require supportive services and, due to English language deficiencies, cannot  access and maintain entitlement benefits without assistance.
Solution: SJCC provides comprehensive case management services, by experienced, multi-lingual case workers and social workers (including those with expertise in immigration issues) and aided by our Computerized Benefits Check Up Program (which assesses eligibility for 41 various entitlement benefit programs and provides application guidance).

III. Food Pantry Services:
Problem: The hunger crisis in Brighton Beach is escalating. [Please view the "Russia Today" Documentary Interview of Shorefront JCC's Food Pantry Coordinator regarding the Crisis of Hunger Affecting the Indigent, Immigrant Elderly of SJCC's "Lou Maron Memorial Food Pantry" (http://www.russiatoday.com/features/news/27092/video)].
Solution: SJCC's food pantry program has been meeting the needs of thousands of impoverished people since 2002. Food Pantry Services include weekly and monthly distributions of nutritious food to 1,500 indigent, frail elderly and immigrants every month.
10% of our food pantry clients are young families, a major shift in the past two years.
