What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
We currently operate two transitional residences - a 100-bed facility in East Harlem that provides services to single men and a 200-bed facility in Brooklyn that serves single women.
In addition to our housing services, we believe it critical and effective to provide comprehensive, holistic services to enable long-term, true personal change. As our population of clients consists of adults who are homeless with dual diagnoses of severe, persistent mental illness and chemical addiction, their needs are substantial. Our proven method of helping them build better lives consists of:
* Comprehensive medical practices, psychiatric care, and social services;
* Negotiating Life©: a unique hands-on workshop series that teaches clients essential skills to negotiate their way through life - conflict/dispute resolution, effective communication, anger management, and stress reduction techniques;
* Holistic programming to meet clients' mental/physical/spiritual needs: an art studio, on-site lending libraries, yoga, dance, daily movement and athletic activities, and field trips to museums, performances, and other community events;
* Culinary Arts Training and Work Placement Program: a new employment opportunity program that will launch later this year; and,
* Prevention Services: aimed at particularly vulnerable populations including youth aging out of foster care, chronic homeless adults, adults recently graduated from substance abuse programs, and elderly in poverty.
