Mission

The mission of the Gerrittsen Beach Fire Department is to protect life, property, and the environment from fires, natural disasters, and other emergencies through public education, prevention, and emergency response.

The Gerrittsen Beach Fire Department's primary goal is to ensure the safety of our community by providing timely and efficient emergency response services. Our organization aims to accomplish this by maintaining a highly trained and motivated team of firefighters, acquiring and maintaining modern firefighting equipment, and engaging with our community through outreach and education programs. Additionally, we aim to continuously improve our emergency response capabilities through ongoing training, equipment upgrades, and proactive planning to anticipate and mitigate potential risks in our area.

As an organization, our strategies for achieving our goals include maintaining a strong volunteer base, investing in the latest technology and equipment, providing ongoing training and education for our firefighters, and working closely with our community to promote fire safety and awareness. We also aim to forge partnerships with other organizations and agencies to enhance our emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety of our community. Additionally, we seek to maintain open communication with our elected officials and government agencies to advocate for the needs of our department and community.

As a volunteer fire department, the Gerrittsen Beach Fire Department is made up of trained and experienced firefighters, EMTs, and other volunteers who are dedicated to providing emergency services to our community. We have a well-equipped firehouse with modern firefighting equipment, apparatus, and communication systems to ensure we can respond quickly and efficiently to emergencies. Our members receive ongoing training and education to keep their skills and knowledge up to date. Additionally, we work closely with other emergency responders and community organizations to promote safety and preparedness. We are proud of our Gold Seal of Transparency from Guidestar, which demonstrates our commitment to transparency and accountability in our operations and finances.

As the Gerrittsen Beach Fire Department, we are proud to have accomplished many things so far. We have earned the 2023 Gold Seal of Transparency from Guidestar, which recognizes our commitment to transparency and accountability. We have also secured grants to acquire new vehicles and equipment to better serve our community.

Moving forward, our focus will be on maintaining and acquiring new apparatus to continue providing high-quality emergency services to Gerrittsen Beach and surrounding areas. We will also continue to prioritize training and professional development for our dedicated volunteer firefighters, as well as collaborating with local government and community organizations to enhance public safety and emergency preparedness.
