Mission

DCCNY seeks support for and assist in the development of quality childcare services which promote the sound growth and development of children and their families. We are a membership organization of diverse early childhood care and education providers, consumers, and advocates. We support organizations that operate more than 300 publicly and privately funded center-based programs through the provision of labor relations and mediation services. DCCNY also serves family childcare providers and children through its Family Child Care Network and provides technical assistance through the Child and Adult Care Food Program. As a member of the NYC Child Care Resource & Referral Consortium, DCCNY provides direct support to approximately 2,600 families to connect them to quality childcare providers.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Labor Relations & Mediation Services (LRAS)

The LRAS team provides critical assistance to child care employers to resolve workplace issues, personnel matters, and employee grievances, handling more than 1,000 contract and disciplinary cases annually. In addition to the provision of legal advice focused on labor and employment law, the team provides legal representation to DCCNY members in arbitration, human rights complaints, and National Labor Relations Board proceedings. Our members have employees who are members of DC 37 Local 205 and CSA.

Through LRAS, members also receive training to ensure that personnel policies, disciplinary actions, and discharges follow the respective Collective Bargaining Agreements, as well as Federal and State labor and employment laws. Part of our role is to assist management to create, implement, and maintain legal and administrative structures that promote fair labor and employment practices in high qualit
