Mission

The Greenwich Village Chamber Singers is a chorus where every voice counts. Through the originality and diversity of its programming, and the beauty of its sound, The Greenwich Village Chamber Singers strives to be one of the most highly regarded amateur choruses in New York City. Under the direction of Michael Sheetz, Music Director, we attract singers from all over the greater New York area and have built a comprehensive repertoire that includes works from all periods of music.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Choral Music

The Greenwich Village Singers rehearse weekly and perform two or three concerts for the public each year, usually with orchestra or other accompaniment. All amateur singers with basic musical skills are welcome to audition for membership. Concerts are presented at local churches and attract a wide community-based audience averaging 450 persons per concert. Community outreach includes Christmas caroling and other neighborhood performances.
