Library Initiative project Looking At: Jazz: The continuation of NVR's American Retrospective, a lifelong learning program of scholar-led film and discussion programs for public libraries encompassing important historical and cultural events of the 20th century. The programs are created around compelling themes from the 20th century, such as the Civil Rights movement and the turbulent decade of the 1960s (The Sixties); science and the shaping of modern life (The Research Revolution);

Media Arts Project to fund grants to media makers from the U.S. and Mexico, as well as, to manage the Media Arts Fellowships program (formerly the Film/Video/Multimedia Fellowships) for the Rockefeller and Ford Foundations. Renew Media helps artists - often emerging, under-represented or unconventional in their approach - realize their vision and bring their voice to the recognition of the public.
