Mission

For more than 85 years, the main objective of the Annie Tinker Association for Women has been to provide financial assistance to elderly retired working women so that they may remain independent in their homes and continue to be involved community members. Annie Rensselaer Tinker’s original concern about the well- being of retired women, without the benefit of pension or savings, remains very valid in the 21st Century. The mission of the Association is implemented by providing monthly stipends to these women when their monthly income and savings do not cover the expense of remaining in their homes.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Stipends, alleviating social isolation through technology and special social events

The association distributes a “make a difference” check to older
women in need, a stipend that allows them to remain in their own homes as
active members of their communities. Many of these women devoted their working
lives to the arts—as designers, dancers, poets and painters—fields that generally
do not provide adequate pensions. Most live alone and try to make do on meager
social security allotments.
