Mission

Second Chance is an all volunteer organization who specalizes in stray, orphaned, abandoned, and abused dogs and cats. All of our animals are spay/neutered, given all required shots, dewormed, (cats are checked for feline leukemia and FIV)and placed in foster homes until they can be showcased at the local off site locations. All applicants are diligently screened for suitability as an adoptive parent, and if accepted, are given ongoing support for the transitional period of adjustment in the new home.

Second Chance's goal is to promote aggressive low-cost spay and neuter programs in order to reduce the number of unwanted animals and therefore stopping the killing of the excess pets. Second Chance's focus on "street rescue" of abandoned animals has led to close affiliations with other organizations in our area in respect to setting up maintained and supervised feral cat colonies. All feral cats are spay/neutered, vaccinated and released back into the community from which they come.

Second Chance also has set up an educational program for elementary school children called, "It is Not Cool to be Cruel" in which we introduce responsible and caring pet ownership to children at a young age. We find that getting the children excited about "Kare & Kindness" of animals rubs off on the entire family unit when they go home.

Second Chance also believes that seniors and the less fortunate should not have to get rid of their pets when they fall on hard times and cannot feed them. For that reason, Second Chance donates any excess pet food donations that can be spared at the time to the local pet food pantries as well as keeping the feral cat colonies care takers supplied with food.

There are no paid people in our organization, we all serve out of love.
