Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Kids to College

The Kids to College Project is a project with a number of programs that involve identifying the under served students that are capable of securing a postsecondary education through our services, and increasing the number of colleges willing to accept the students, community outreach, workshops, and the annual College Round-Up event. To inform our work we need the capacity to capture and store pertinent data that documents our work and the services that we provide.

Population(s) Served

(Proposed)

Our project will look comprehensively at African American life and culture in America from the post Reconstruction period to the pre Civil Rights era.

We find that many Americans have a gap in knowledge about the African American experience in this country beyond slavery and prior to the civil rights era. We are confident that if we provide a thorough, comprehensive documentation of that period more people would have a better understanding of and respect for the multi-dimensional character of African American contributions to the successes of this society. They will also understand the apprehensions of African Americans when it comes to full inclusion into this society that they helped form.

The audience for this work will be universal. The work will have scholastic purpose and will also act as a relevant piece of historical reference. We are particularly planning to make the work available to school age members of the public from elementary through post secondary institutions. The work will be available free of charge to all educational entities. If other members of the public show an interest in the work beyond viewing it at the museum and cultural center, we will look into making segments of it available for download.

Initial steps will include engaging educators, historians, librarians, archivists, and program development and management advisors who will assist in the laying a foundation for what this project will need in order to reach and affect the comprehension of the broadest audience.

Population(s) Served

The establishment of a goal of achieving a carbon-free and nuclear-free U.S. energy sector by mid-century can have a transformative effect on the global political climate, which is a prerequisite for protecting the planetary physical climate. The ecological, health, and security benefits of realizing that goal will be immense. The poorest and most vulnerable are most affected by our current energy practices. We are committed to working to protect the most vulnerable.

Population(s) Served

We are in the process of determining the feasibility of developing a program in collaboration with a university and a research institute to provide training and continuing educational support for teachers of math and science to develop more effective, efficient, and relevant methods of teaching high school math and science and engaging more high school students to develop or increase their interest in math and science.
