Mission

Mission The Johnny O. Perea Foundation for Asbestos Education & Relief intends to inform the public regarding the dangers of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) for individual homes and dwellings that do not fall under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. We will educate the general public using information provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other health organizations. This foundation intends to identify deal with Asbestos one house at a time until we no longer have to fear this know hazard. Future generation should not have to suffer the way my father did. Asbestos is out there that is a fact that we can not eagnor. We can not continue to just say "don't disturb it". nothing last forever.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

1. Educate the community regarding the hazards of ACM in their homes.
* Conduct awareness training using all media outlets.
* Create pamphlets and brochures and pass them out.
* Get Media attention and make public announcements.

2. Identification of causative factors as they apply to Asbestos hazards.
* Identify building projects such as Cherry hills in the North East heights in Albuquerque New Mexico and create a data base of areas and materials sampled.
* Taking bulk samples of areas that will be effected during remodeling or demolition projects conducted by home owners or dwellings.
* Develop an action plan on how to deal with the Asbestos containing materials.

3. Removal and disposal of the hazardous materials.
* Using trained and certified contractors the action plan will be complied with.
* The contractor will leave records of all action taken.
* All materials to be disposed of will be sent to an approved land fill for hazardous waste. These services will be provided primarily for home owners and small business that do not fall under the protection of OSHA or any federal regulations.
