What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Jericho Road's skilled, professional volunteers offer no cost, customized professional services to those non profit organizations focused on improving the quality of life of individuals and families in Lawrence, and assisting them to become economically self-sustaining. By providing services focused on organizational capacity and economic sustainability, Jericho Road Lawrence works to strengthen and contribute to the vitality and quality of life in Lawrence. Our services are delivered through a match making process that pairs experienced professionals who are willing to volunteer their skills to assist our non-profit partners with the project needs they have identified. Jericho Road offers personally customized (and therefore often irresistible) volunteer opportunities, and provides client organizations a wide range of otherwise unaffordable or expensive, high-level expertise.
Volunteer professional consulting
Pro Bono Professional-level volunteer consulting is our flagship program upon which our other services have grown. While Greater Lawrence and its social service agencies struggle under the growing constraint of limited funding precipitated by the ongoing fragile economic climate, they can ill afford to hire the business professionals often needed to help them run their charities effectively. Community InRoads continues to attract a steady pool of talented business men and women who are enthusiastic about volunteering their professional talents to help strengthen non-profits dedicated to improving the lives of the residents living in the Lawrence-Haverhill area. Professional level assistance is project specific, with a clearly defined completion in order to sustain the organizational infrastructure of the nonprofit: Examples of areas of assistance are: marketing and public relations, human resources, business planning, finance and accounting, IT and web design, graphic design, development.
The money our pro-bono consulting services save our non-profits can be directly channeled to provide shelter and food for the homeless, affordable homes to low-income residents, education and leadership programs for youth, vocational and ESOL services, and the beautification/safety of our neighborhoods.
Cultural Inclusion for Non-profit Boards
Cultural Inclusion for Non-profit Boards recruits and trains local minority professionals in Board governance and matches their interests with the needs of participating Lawrence/Haverhill boards. This 7-month program also includes facilitated dialogues on creating inclusive Board environments. Our mantra: diversity is more than a checkbox.
Board Tune Up (BTU)
Our Board Tune Up program assists individual non-profit Boards to strengthen their effectiveness as a governing body. The program includes facilitation of strategic plans, Board Roles to Goals, individualized Board training, Board retreats and coaching for Executive Directors and Board Chairs.
Executive-level roundtables
Provides a venue for Executive Directors, Board Chairs, and CFOs to meet, network, and discuss topics of interest.
Non-profit workshops
Through a partnership with Lawyers Clearinghouse and local professionals, Community InRoads provides free ,local workshops on non-profit management.
Grant Resource Center
The Grant Resource Center was spearheaded by Community InRoads in partnership with Northern Essex Community College to provide our non-profits with free, local access to premier donor databases that would otherwise cost the non-profit over $1,000 in annual user fees. It is managed and hosted by Northern Essex Community College's Lawrence campus where they also offer workshops in grant research and writing.
