What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Our hearts were touched by the needs of the many abandoned children suffering in Guatemala. This brought forth the vision of Casa Agua Azul in 2013. We have been diligently working hard, digging in the dirt, and building relationships with the people of Guatemala. It has been a long journey to comply with the Guatemalan Government regulations and building in a foreign land. But the first goals have been accomplished. We are one of the only fully certified Children's Homes in Guatemala.

Children's Home

Our passion for the children of Guatemala greatly increased in 2009 when 9 women visited the children's home of Casa Ahicam located in Poptún, Guatemala. The desperation we witnessed moved our hearts. A fire destroyed the home in December of 2009, which compelled us to help in the rebuilding efforts. We joined forces with the Church of God and a new facility was completed to house the children of Ahicam.

We have been diligently working hard, digging in the dirt, and building relationships with the people of Guatemala. It has been a long journey to comply with the Guatemalan Government regulations and building in a foreign land. But the journey has borne great fruit. Casa Agua Azul is open and caring for many children.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Our mission is to provide a safe house for abandoned and abused children in Guatemala through Casa Agua Azul on Lake Izabal in the Rio Dulce.

The House provides a stable long term home where children are loved, cared for, and educated to become well adjusted and productive members of society.

Our strategies have been to build relationships within the communities we see the most need in Guatemala and work with the Guatemalan government to secure all certifications needed for the house. Our financial strategy has been to use foundation donations to purchase and modify the house to standards, tell our story via social media, and send short term mission groups to Guatemala to see first hand the impact their donations are making.

We have secured a fantastic staff at Casa Agua Azul. Teachers, psychologist and Doctor are all on staff, along with care givers and our House Director. Our Board members are also frequently on site to review process and work with the children. The house in licensed for 24 children with the capability to apply for more.

As stated above, we have accomplished certification to all Guatemalan requirements for a children's home. This took many years and tons of patience. We look forward to God's direction as we continue to help the many children and families in need in Guatemala.
