Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

1. Be a city on a hill that shines the light of Christ to the entire planet.
2. Spread the good news of Christ to all of the world.
3. Establish a perfect church in the Higueronal community of East Panama.
4. Establish a well-organized, efficient and modern medical clinic to provide physical healing in the name of Christ to the needy.
5. Impact the community surrounding Higueronal in East Panama to make a Christlike society.
6. Minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the community surrounding Higueronal in East Panama in the name of Christ.
7. Complete financial and administrative independence of the project, church and clinic, such that all operations are managed locally in Panama.

1. Pray without ceasing.
2. Purify our hearts personally before God.
3. Follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every aspect of the church and of the construction project.
4. Work toward a mature church, independent of outside sources financially and in conformity to Bible structure.
5. Advance the construction of the church and clinic multipurpose building.
6. Conduct regular community events to attract many from the community and to impact them to live for Christ.
7. Upon completion of the construction of the church and clinic multipurpose building, follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit in establishing the operations of the clinic.
8. Involve ourselves in a meaningful and Christlike way in local community events in the Higueronal area in East Panama.
9. Provide ongoing benevolence in the name of Christ to the needy local to the Higueronal area in East Panama.
10. Provide education programs that specifically meet the needs of the community of the Higueronal area and East Panama.

Through Christ we can do all things. Our staff consists of a small group of volunteers in the United States and a small group of paid staff in Panama. A full-time church minister in Panama also administers the project. We contract a part-time secretary in Panama and also others locally for ongoing maintenance work of the project. The Higueronal church of Christ organizes and implements community events on a nonscheduled basis. The multipurpose building currently is used for community and for church events and continues under construction. The project is located on a 10 acre site, which currently includes the multipurpose building, a storage building, kitchen, outdoor restrooms and a soccer field.

The majority of funds obtained through donations proceed toward advancement of construction of the multipurpose building, with the ultimate goal to open the medical and dental clinic for continuous operations. The remainder of funds proceed toward community events and operation maintenance expenses.

Spiritual Growth
The Higueronal church continues to meet weekly. The format of annual Mission Trips conducted primarily by volunteers from the United States was changed to community events planned and conducted by the Higueronal church. The motive of this format change was to encourage independence of the Higueronal church and of the community surrounding Higueronal.

The Higueronal church plans and implements community events nearly independently. Members of the congregation intermittently travel house to house each week conducting Bible studies with individuals in the community. Multiple men in the congregation now serve in the worship service and men and women of the congregation lead various works of the church. The church remains dependent on the evangelist but continues to progress toward a more mature Biblical leadership structure with elders and deacons. We look for continued growth in number and in maturity of the church.

Impacting the community for Christ
Community events have involved many from the community. We hope to increase continually community involvement such that these events become a central component of the community schedule each year. We hope to involve the community to such an extent that we begin to see positive changes in families due to the presence of Christ in their lives. We look to see decreasing physical and spiritual illness in the community as a result of Christ in the lives of individuals.

Multipurpose Building Construction
The exterior of the building is complete and much of the interior of the building is advanced. As funds allow, we hope to continually advance the construction of this building to completion, such that the entire project will serve as a city on a hill, drawing many to Christ and shining out Christ. Once construction is complete, we hope to open the medical and dental clinic for full-time operations, employing staff locally.
