Programs and results
What we aim to solve
There is a gap in the school programs in STEM and environmental education. We provide scholarships for schools to attend programs in these areas. We also provide free lectures from researchers for the community. Our work also helps makes the Science Center and the surrounding lands inviting for guests to recreate.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Moms, Pops and Tots
The Center piloted a program to teach parents how to safely take their young children out of doors. It proved popular and is being replicated at other facilities.
Water Discovery Days
School children do hands on experiments to learn about insects and animals that live in the water and iimportance of water quality to their every day life.
The program is conducted for an entire week serving approx. 150 -200 children.
Scholarship Program
The FCCSC created a scholarship program to defray the expensive costs of field trips to the center. Teachers can select from a list of topics such as Alaskan Animals, Salmon, STEM, or Alaskan Plants.
