Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Program 1
As part of our monthly lecture series (open to thepublic), we hosted speakers who staged talks and visual presentations on many bead-related topics from a historical, technical and inspirational point of view (see Schedule O for a complete list). On April 16-17 we hosted our grand annual bead show. It included 70+
Program 2
educational displays as well as information tables hosted by us and other art-related nonprofits. Ancient, tribal and vintage beads/artifacts were displayed, as was artwork made from glass, ceramic, felt, silver and wood. And there were demonstrations of beadwork, wirework, felt making and polymer clay. 900+ people attended.
Program 3
We presented our annual Bead Challenge competition at the Alameda County Fair and made 6 awards for excellent beadwork. (We were voted "Best Display" at the Fair.) In August we hosted our 5th annual Members' Day to allow members to network and share ideas about beads (and the direction of the organization).
