STREETSCAPE PROJECT: CULMINATING A SIX YEAR EFFORT, THE STREETSCAPE PROJECT IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN IN FRONT OF THE HISTORIC JEFFERSON COUTY COURTHOUSE WAS COMPLETED AT THE CORNER OF MAIN AND GAY STREETS. THE DETERIORATED PLANTING BEDS COMPRISED OF CONCRETED BLOCKS WAS REMOVED AND A NEW LANDSCAPE OF TREES, SHRUBS, AND PERENNIALS WERE INSTALLED. IT IS SURROUNDED BY COMMEMORATIVE BRICKS WITH THE NAMES OF THOSE WANTING THEIR LOVED ONES TO BE REMEMBERED. AN AREA WAS RESERVED AND THREE NEW FLAG POLES WERE INSTALLED THAT CARRY THE COUNTY, STATE, AND U.S. FLAGS. DCT RAISED THE FUNDS FOR THIS PROJECT AND SUPERVISED THE PLANTING AND BRICK INSTALLATION. THIS PROJECT SERVES ALL OF JEFFERSON COUNTY, THOSE THAT COME TO THE COURTHOUSE FROM OTHER STATES FOR GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH, AND THE CITIZENS OF DANDRIDGE.

HOLIDAY CONCERT: THE SECOND HOLIDAY SEASON CONCERT WAS HELD AT THE FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH HERE IN DANDRIDGE. SOME 1000 ATTENDEES AND VOLUNTEERS HEARD THE KNOXVILLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PLAY CLASSICAL HOLIDAY MUSIC AND CAROLS. THE DCT RAISED THE FUNDS, CONTRACTED WITH THE SYMPHONY, AND PROMOTED THIS IMPORTANT COMMUNITY CONCERT CELEBRATION.
