What we aim to solve
Performance Art remains on the cusp of contemporary artistic expression, and yet is one of the least represented art forms. Grace Exhibition Space for International Performance Art aims to create a safe space for performance art, creating more exposure for the performance artists.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We aim to present curated performance art to a broader audience in New York City, educating the public and dissolving the boundary between artist and viewer. We aim to celebrate and support the current generation of national and international performance artists, facilitating exchange and collaborations between diverse cultures and backgrounds.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
By renting a storefront gallery, we have a space inviting to those passing on the street, and easily accessibie for people with disabilities. Performances are available by donation, keeping our events affordable to all people.
Through our programming, we invite accomplished and emerging performance artists to present their work, actively building an engaged community to support these artists. We have a broad knowledge of accomplished performance artists in New York City, across the United States and internationally, and are frequently attending international festivals and exhibitions to stay in touch with the current performance art scene.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Over our many years of curating, creating, and witnessing performance art, as well as degrees in learning about performance art as well as creating performance art, we have developed a deep understanding of how to relate to the artists’ needs. We have a wide circle of support, including an active board of directors, a curatorial board, and a team of volunteers who regularly offer us help and support.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
At Grace Exhibition Space, we have presented 13 continuous years of over 30 curated live performance art exhibitions each year, showcasing work by more than 500 performance artists from across the United States and world since 2006. We received fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas in 2007, and received 501c3 Non-Profit status in 2015. Since 2006, we have established Grace Exhibition Space in Brooklyn as a welcome gathering space, supporting exchange and collaboration among artists and audiences from diverse cultures and artistic backgrounds. In 2018, we moved to the Lower East Side in Manhattan. Grace Exhibition Space has the overwhelming support of our new landlords and the surrounding community, giving the space a long-term lease in the heart of Alphabet City, a neighborhood that has historically been home to performance art. This move to Manhattan allows us to continue our mission as a non-profit organization, supporting performance artists, as well as the surrounding community, together celebrating performance art in New York City.
