What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our mission is to protect the natural resources in our region. We have helped to protect the rural character of the towns that we service.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We select properties that meet our criteria as high value open space. We then negotiate with the owners for the gift of the property, a bargain sale, or the purchase of the property. We raise funds to finance the cost of properties through grants from the state and federal governments, grants from private foundations, and contributions from our members and friends.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have been successful in negotiating a fair price or receiving a donation for most of the properties we have selected for acquisition. We have raised the required funds to complete the purchase our selected projects.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
To date, we have protected more than 1.500 acres with a value of $6,322,074
