What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Junior Fellows Program
The Junior Fellows Program is a three-year program aimed at Philadelphia high school students from economically underserved communities.
The program seeks to foster interest in careers in healthcare and medicine through hands-on learning and interaction with professionals. The program also provides academic counseling and support to better prepare these students for college and their future careers.
Through the resources of The College of Physicians, including the Mütter Museum, the Historical Medical Library, and the College’s vast network of Fellows, our dedicated instructors seek to provide a safe, friendly, and engaging environment for students to obtain a unique education and prepare for their futures.
STEM Internship
The Internship Program is a year-long STEM and social-justice oriented program aimed at intellectually-curious Philadelphia high school students who have been directly affected by violence and want to make a difference in their communities. Through a variety of educational programs, these students explore the impact of violence upon themselves and their communities, while improving their understanding of science, technology, and medicine.
Out4STEM
The Out4STEM Program aims to provide Philadelphia’s LGBTQIA youth with healthcare and STEM-oriented instruction, mentorship, academic support, and college/career preparation in an inclusive, safe space. Drawing on the resources of The College of Physicians and the Mütter Museum, the program aims to promote resilience, peer support networks, and diverse educational experiences.
The Out4STEM Program consists of two components: a one-year internship program directed at Philadelphia 10th and 11th graders and a series of regular events directed at a broader audience.
Girls One Diaspora Club
The Girls One Diaspora Club is for teen girls from Africa or the African diaspora who were either born outside of the US or are first-generation Americans and have an interest in STEM careers.
The club is a forum for academic and personal support to assist young women with issues related to schooling, ancestry, ethnicity, and the challenges of adjusting to a new culture. The facilitators of the club also assist with academic issues, including tutoring, career development, and college preparation.
