Farm Festival

The 180+ acre farm has been owned by the Dreibelbis family for over 240 years. Built in the 1860’s, the un-remodeled farmhouse is perhaps one of the best living reminders of rural life in Berks County. Among the Farm Festival activities are demonstrations of life on the farm— kitchen crafts, butchering, dairy chores, spinning, and quilting. Pennsylvania-German rural work-life presentations feature lots of old-time tools and farming activities. Because the farm was the site of the largest Lenape settlement in southeastern Pennsylvania, Native American displays, story-telling, crafts, and archaeological artifacts are featured, as well. Children's activities include both tractor and horse-drawn hay rides, candle-dipping, birdhouse-building, and old-time games from the time the farm house was built. Special Talks on local archaeology, Native American storytelling, and local Civil War history are given in the barn theatre. Special music which features country strings and Pennsylvania German styles are offered throughout the day.
