What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Baby Steps classes

This is a series of 5 classes taught on 3 different days within a week and a half . They include Labor and Delivery, Baby Basics, Breastfeeding and Nutrition, Infant CPR and First Aid, and a personal development class. The classes are given not only for the information but also to help build a support system for the mom and to see what her individual needs might be. Each class is incentive-based. The women get gifts such as diapers, baby monitors, diaper bag etc. This program is also mentor-based. At the end of each class, students meet with a mentor to discuss class and any issues they would like to share.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

If we do not help to create change for the future, then all we are doing is providing a band-aid for the moment.  At Birthright we are dedicated to fostering the kind of change that has a positive impact on families in our community today and for generations to come.  Our goal is to drive lasting, positive change by providing the basic education and support that many expectant mothers require to make good choices and to become responsible, nurturing parents.  We hope to expand our services to meet the needs of more women in the mid-south. Birthright's impact on individuals and families in our community is both immediate and exponential over time, as negative cycles are broken and the skills and knowledge we provide to those we help enrich lives as they are passed from generation to generation.

We have a need to advertise in order to reach the moms who need us most. We would like to be able to offer more classes to moms and dads. We are working on a collaboration with Catholic Charities to expand our reach to the clients in their area and have been in touch with various health and social services to offer our services.

We have our training models ready and teachers for our classes. We have the collaboration of Church of the Holy Spirit to provide incentive gifts. We have hired a director of development to help with raising funds that will be used to reach more women.

We have classes in place. We have begun networking with other resources in the community. We have 5 bus benches around Memphis to attract clients. We have hired a Director of Development to help with raising money and branding. We still need to have a better marketing strategy and advertising means, but until we have more funds this is not possible.
