Mission

Our mission is to provide educational programs and services that emphasize the importance of birds and other wildlife. We promote conservation and restoration of natural habitats primarily in Kern County. We conduct outreach education to local schools and environmental organizations like Wind Wolves and CALM.

Science Camp at Panorama Vista Preserve

Volunteers teach youth how to respect the environment and make it a safe place for birds and other wild life to live. We have visual aides and a Reader's Theater. After general instruction students go to learning stations where they can explore. Topics include spotting scopes, owl pellets, binoculars, feathers, and environmental hazards .

Two Bird and Wildlife Specialists teach beginners of all ages how to identify birds by their beak, feet, habits, sound and location.
Students learn how to use binoculars, field guides, and spotting scopes.

Volunteers bring visual aides and birding tools to schools so students learn that Birds Matter in their lives. Children ages 9 - 12 learn how to protect and apprecie=ate birds.
