The American Rose Society is dedicated to extending the knowledge, production, use and appreciation of roses in all forms.Judging Program - We have specialized programs for those who want to learn how to judge roses and rose arrangements in competition. You can find out about the requirements for becoming a judge and where to find a judging school near you. Consulting Rosarian Program - We have a program for the further education of members who wish to become Consulting Rosarians. We hold Consulting Rosarian Schools at various places around the country for those who wish to learn more about roses or who want to become a Consulting Rosarian. The Consulting Rosarian Manual is available and is full of helpful advice, proven growing methods and the latest recommendations for combating rose diseases and insect pests. It can be ordered on the form below. You can also contact a Consulting Rosarian OnLine who will answer questions by e-mail. Publish ""American Rose magazine"" - Our members receive a free subscription to The American Rose, which is published 11 times annually. They also receive The Rose Annual each December, which summarizes many of the activities of the Society, as well as offering stimulating articles on research, the new roses in the world and the results of various rose trials held here in this country and also abroad. Included in your membership is the Handbook for Selecting Roses, which offers a condensed listing of roses commercially available in the United States and Canada. It also gives the color class and ARS rating for each rose - the higher the number, the better that particular rose has performed across the nation. Publish ""The Rose Exhibitor's Forum"" - A quarterly journal for rose exhibitors and all rose lovers, devoted to all aspects of rose exhibiting and rose horticulture. Publish ""The Rose Arranger's Bulletin"" - A quarterly journal for rose arrangers featuring tips on arranging, design, materials, techniques, design forms and arrangement show results from across the Nation. Publish ""Mini News"" - A quarterly newsletter featuring information specially collected for the miniature rose enthusiast. Publish the ""OGR & Shrubs Gazette"" - A quarterly newsletter featuring information specially collected for the OGR and Shrub enthusiast. Publish the ""The Handbook for Selecting Roses"" - Prepared as a buyer's guide - this booklet includes more than 2,500 varieties of roses that are commercially available to the buying public. An alphabetical listing that also gives the classification, color, petalage (where recorded), year of introduction, and ARS National rating (derived from Rose in Review and the Triennial Survey.) Publish the ""2001 Official List of Approved Exhibition Names"" - Prepared for rose shows, this booklet includes more than 27,000 listings in alphabetical order by approved show name or synonym. No code names. Each entry is listed with class, color, year of introduction and hybridizer (if known).
