Tours

Tours of the Cemetery's expansive grounds are given in 1 or 2 hour increments from Monday through Friday 8am to 3pm. Groups of 10 or more enjoy exploring Pittsburgh's oldest park and the repository of over 170 years of regional history. Tours can focus on Military History, the Industrial Revolution, Sports and Stage stars, Art and Architecture or a blending of all. This is an extremely popular program that is highly utilized for school field trips, out of town guests, conference attractions, scholarly groups, cultural clubs and locals alike.

Population(s) Served

Thousands of citizens gather at Allegheny Cemetery each year to observe a traditional Memorial Day service and picnic. The A.C.H.A. organizes educational "living history" presentations including period characters, Civil War encampments, historic artifact shows, kids craft projects, refreshments and music.

Population(s) Served

Commonly referred to as "Doo Dah Days," this festival is a celebration of American life in the 1800's and is widely attended both by locals and global tourists. Civil War era music is performed live using period instruments. Interactive living history stations are set up and a variety of cultures are represented including Soldiers, Native Americans, Pioneers, Industrialists and more. Cemetery tours are offered every hour and refreshments are served.
