Population(s) Served

The Diversity Business Resource Center (DBRC) clients are eligible for free counseling for as long as needed in order to start-up and successfully manage their existing firm. This counseling can occur over the phone, online, or face to face. Counseling topics include, but are not limited to, start-up assistance, business planning, financing/capital, managing a business, customer relations, human resources, business accounting/budget, cash flow management, marketing/sales, government contracting, DBE/MBE/WBE certifications, technology, and legal issues. Counselors come to the DBRC based on the strategic partnerships that have been formed with the local Small Business Development Center, Women's Business Center, SCORE, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, and other industry experts. Also, representatives from Allegheny County and the Small Business Administration meet with clients to assist with the various certification applications.

Population(s) Served

The DBRC serves as a sort of clearinghouse for a variety of government agencies, educational institutions and private industries looking to connect & advertise to female, minority, veteran or disadvantaged businesses for development projects, contracts and general opportunities to do business. DBRC outreaches to the business community for existing opportunities. We then promote these potential prospects and encourage qualified DBRC clients to pursue the opportunity, while assisting them with information or other needs to strengthen their position.
