What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The problem stems from the fact that the federal government does not address the root causes of issues that develop in lower-class communities, especially those of color. These issues begin with low educational achievement levels as studies have revealed the ability to read at the 3rd grade in primer school, or better yet, the lack thereof, is a qualifying statistic for determining the success or failure of that student in his or her adulthood. DI’MANS, Inc. programmatics are designed to specifically address this lack of understanding and need for basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills early on in life. At DI’MANS, Inc., we reach down into the trenches, where the upper-class would only send money, but rarely if ever go, to find those “rough stones” in need of becoming “shining gems.” At DI’MANS, Inc. we rely on youth voice, trial and error, and especially evaluated programmatics to assist us in developing new strategies to “Form the Minds of the Future.”

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Life Skills Motivational Workshop

Life Skills Motivational Workshop participants (normally disconnected youth and economically disadvantaged youth and young adults) are met at the level they currently exist at and provided with careful guidance that is designed to help them advance personally.

Population(s) Served

Based on the inaugural 1961 address of John F. Kennedy, this evaluated program is designed to reshape
the desire of today's youth and young adults who litter in their own community and other communities
inhabited by people of color. The six-week program is designed to work with a maximum of 72 students ages 16 and up, for 3,888 hours of classroom/community cleaning volunteerism.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

To reduce the "pipeline to prison" in the lives of as many disadvantaged youth and young adults, who are otherwise destined to repeat the life of those who often rear them, close family members who are inappropriately tied to the justice system, and those who are the majority negativity influencers in their immediate communities, as possible through providing them with a look at life on the other side and giving them a map for developing their own positive self interest in reaching a healthy and positive life in adulthood.

While we refuse to give you our corporate success secrets, we will offer to share our stories with you. Please visit us online at dimans.org to read all about them!

Our capabilities lie in finding individuals who want to make a change. We are not magicians. We are not mind-changers, but mind-enablers. We do not intend to save the world, rather we want to provide a road map for those who sincerely want to work towards achieving all that life has to offer. We deal with individuals who come from generations of welfare recipients who live in public housing. We understand that this is all they know about life. What we do is show them that there is another way and provide a road map to success for them to travel. We do not mislead anyone into thinking things will change for them overnight. As a matter-of-fact, we tell them everyday that today may not be "Their Day" for change. We encourage them to keep going, through thick and through thin, in high waters and in low tides, because we know that is exactly what it is going to take. Is it going to be an easy ride? We tell them NO, but it is a ride that you can WIN if you choose to.

We don't necessarily keep track of everything that we have accomplished because we are too busy trying to accomplish more everyday. Everyday we are faced with a new challenge and everyday we tackle that challenge with the intent to beat it down - and most times, we do!
