FOCUS North America

FOCUS Minnesota is an outreach of Orthodox Christian churches in the greater Twin Cities area. Our mission is to the under-served poor, the homeless, and the working poor, providing them with Food, Occupation, Clothing, Understanding and Service (FOCUS). The outreach programs of FOCUS Minnesota are intended to enable FOCUS, and its partners, to meet the pressing demands of the poor and needy, and to initiate and/or augment charitable and humanitarian operations in the Twin Cities.

FOCUS Minnesota affirms and honors the image of God in every person, Christian, and non-Christian alike. We share our love for Christ and our neighbor indiscriminately. Our goal is to treat our neighbor in such a way that dignity is preserved in our serving and giving. We believe empowering people to help themselves is fundamental, although temporary and/or transitional assistance is often needed and freely given

FOCUS Detroit is the local chapter and center of FOCUS North America. We work to engage Orthodox Christian individuals and parishes and the greater community with those in need. We work to provide opportunities to fulfill Christ’s call to “Love God and neighbor” (Mt 22:36-40, Mk 12: 30-31).

The short motto that holds great meaning and leads our ethos and guiding principals for ministry. We believe that the transformation of the heart, soul, mind, and body create a domino effect, moving to a more beautiful self, family, neighborhood, city, country, and world. Whether it is through enacting small change, or large, we believe that if done with love and intention, that this is what matters. We believe that it is both those who serve and those who are served that are transformed by authentic relationship.

FOCUS St Louis provides a range of services including a weekly free meal on Sunday afternoons; grocery and clothing donations; and work and life readiness classes.

FOCUS is working in West Central PA to develop a job training program for people recently released from prison and re-entering the workforce.

FOCUS San Diego prepares and serves a weekly meals to the needy in San Diego.

FOCUS Southern California opened its doors in 2010 to serve those in need. We provide a range of services such as groceries, clothing, shoes, household and school supplies. FOCUS Southern California partners with other local social service providers to make a greater impact on their community. One such partner is the Orange County Food Bank. FOCUS volunteers often assist the Food Bank in packing food boxes for distribution to those in need.

Seeking to love Christ and each other, YES (Youth Equipped to Serve) creates opportunities for participants to engage with the poverty of their city, equipping them to become servant leaders in their own communities.
