Women's Microcredit

PeopleWeaver provides economic assistance, such as microcredit loans, to impoverished women in developing countries. Currently, our efforts are focused on the women refugees living in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda, as well as girls and women living in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Although our primary focus is microcredit, aid has also included funding for food, schooling, supplies, medicine, communication tools, and cooperative grain mills.

Population(s) Served

The adult school project was started after the repeated requests of the women. Most of the women never started school or had their education interrupted by the war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Topics taught include learning to read and write Swahili, learning to read and write English, and math skills. Much of the school construction was done by the women.

Population(s) Served

Many of the girls we work with had their education interrupted or never were able to start school. Often the cause of this is interruption is war or poverty. This project is targeted to Congolese girls living in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Congolese girls living in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda. Tuition is paid on a yearly basis as available funding permits.
